Educational Trail

The project aim also included, following the repair of the bridge, making it accessible again. In the past, the bridge was connected to the road network which, however, fell into disrepair after the Second World War. Within the project, the roads have been resurfaced and used in the development of the educational trail for visitors. It guides them through the area and takes them as far as the village of Drasenhofen in Austria.

The trail will take you across the northern area of what used to be a part of the former Portz Island, and show you the history of the site, the hunting lodge and the reconstructed historical bridge. The trail is open, you needn’t follow the panels in numerical sequence. You can start your tour from any point. Resting places are provided at panels nos. 3, 4 and 6. Part of this trail is also a larger resting place - points 1 and 2 - near the former signal line on the border. The trail will take you right next to Drasenhofen in Austria.
