look-out tower with the Finest Views of Mikulov
Kozí hrádek (Goat Tower)
Kozí hrádek (Goat Tower) is one of the three prominent rocky landmarks of Mikulov. Since time immemorial, it guarded the strategic trade routes connecting Brno and Vienna, ensuring the safety of the town below.
This is why a two-story artillery tower with a gallery and loopholes was built atop Goat Hill in the 15th century. This late-Gothic outwork with a pointed prow (beaked bastion) significantly bolstered the defenses of Mikulov Castle (today’s chateau), granting it exceptional defensive capabilities not only within the region but across Central Europe.
To this day, it remains an extraordinary feat of historical engineering and an integral part of the town's historic core.
A New Oasis of Peace and Romance
The surroundings of this historic landmark underwent a sensitive transformation in 2026, becoming a highly sought-after relaxation zone. Newly upgraded, safe pathways will lead you, for example, to a viewing platform which, together with the lookout tower at Kozí hrádek, offers the most beautiful views of the Mikulov skyline. A
long these paths, you will also find several romantic spots with benches and freshly planted greenery. For your ultimate convenience, new public toilets are now available at the edge of the grounds.
You can also enjoy the unique views of the town, Holy Hill (Svatý kopeček), and the rolling countryside in the evening, when the magical atmosphere of the place is further enhanced by new, eco-friendly public lighting.
